About image
Hello and welcome to The Happy Learning Cooperative. We provide online classes to individuals and small groups.

We are mother and daughter and we work really well together. We are both fully qualified teachers with a wealth of knowledge and experience between us.

Lesa has been teaching since 'the olden days' as her son likes to say. She is a fully qualified teacher and has successfully taught at all levels including primary, GCSE, A level and degree. She has a further ESOL teaching qualification too and has enjoyed teaching ESOL for many years, teaching learners from pre-entry to Level 2.

Lesa also has specialist qualifications in the area of Special Educational Need. As a specialist teacher for the deaf she set up and ran the sensory impairment service at Barnsley College, teaching deaf and blind students. She has qualifications in British Sign Language and taught deaf students in sign language in further and higher education. She went on to become the specialist teacher for ADHD in addition to sensory impairment in Sheffield.

Lesa has worked as a private tutor for students with mental health difficulties, autism and ADHD. She also happily tutors primary school pupils. Since her move south, she has been teaching ESOL to adult learners and English to adult learners with additional learning needs in Brighton.

Fran has taught a range of subjects for over 6 years including art, ICT, literacy and ESOL English. She is really experienced at working with beginners in all subjects but also caters for students who want to return each term to continue to improve their skills, sometimes year after year! She has experience of teaching adults and college students.

Fran has a BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design specialising in 3D Design and a Fine Art degree specialising in Print-Making. She produces her own artwork and has illustrated for authors. She has previously worked as a photography, graphics and a textiles technician. Fran enjoys all areas of art and has a broad range of experience; if you would like to see more, here is a link to her artist webpage - https://frances-west.tumblr.com/

Fran has a PGCE and received training in teaching basic English skills to native speakers and ESOL students. She has taught ESOL ICT across all levels and ESOL basic literacy skills to beginners to the English language. She has also taught functional literacy, maths and computing skills to adults with learning disabilities and difficulties, and to students who didn't receive an education or experienced a barrier to their education before.

We are happy teachers and we want you to be happy learners. We will make sure that your learning is enjoyable, safe and supported - whatever your level or need.  If you are new to learning, haven't enjoyed learning before, have difficulties learning or need to take your next steps - we can help.
